Buffalo Bills confirm they are the most depressing roller coaster of a franchise to root for

Image result for buffalo bills sad

CBSsports Anquan Boldin‘s stint with the Bills didn’t last long. Less than two weeks after signing a one-year deal with the Bills, Boldin is retiring.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Jim Trotter on Sunday night. Shortly after, Boldin released a statement through Trotter. Here’s what it said:

Football in its purest form is what we all strive for as a nation. People from all difference races, religions and backgrounds working together for one shared goal. The core values taught in football are some of the most important you can learn in life. To always be there for the guy next to you and not let your fellow man down. You do whatever it takes to make sure your brother is OK.

Football has afforded me a platform throughout my career to have a greater impact on my humanitarian work. At this time, I feel drawn to make the larger fight for human rights a priority. My life’s purpose is bigger than football.

This is such a Buffalo Bills move it almost pains me to have to write about it. Being from upstate NY, I was fortunately saved from Buffalo fandom fan by my grandma somehow being a Packers fan but living here my entire life I still manage to have a small piece of my heart set aside for this storied franchise. Just when the fan base is making some moves and attempting to start the rebuilding process for the upcoming years. BAM. The unexpected ensues and sure enough, the Buffalo fans are already looking to grab any excuse or rationalization they can find. I’m certainly not standing here pretending that Anquan Boldin was gonna be the savior that the Bills need but it’s the style of team management that is showing alterations and hopefully allowing them to compete in their conference. Making the moves to essentially trade their “best” player in Sammy Watkins and their best corner in Ronald Darby for some picks, EJ Gaines, and Jordan Matthews may not look like a good move at first glance but diving a little deeper it’s easy to see how this was more than beneficial for the Bills. Sammy was an absolute BUST of a pick in a draft that produced O’Dell Beckham, Mike Evans, and Jeff Janis all AFTER Sammy was picked, it’s pretty safe to say that Sammy Watkins is the worst pick they could have gone with. (Obviously, Janis is not at the level that the other 2 are but my Packers bias seeps in and at least we got more games out of him this year than they have with Sammy since he was drafted.) If passing up on those 2 weren’t bad enough lemme throw another wild ride your way… Jordan Matthews, the very same one the Bills just picked up with their trade of EJ Gaines, was drafted in the second round (pick 42 to be exact) in said draft. Yea. Sip that one down with some cool irony. Still thirsty? Jordan Matthews (brought in to relieve highly-sought after talent Sammy Watkins) injures himself with a chipped bone somewhere on his body. No idea where and I don’t really care, the only chip I care about is the one on your shoulder and if this is a player that take days off with a chip “injury” then he’s no player of mine. Originally thought to be a good pick up by me, it pains me to see if die in my eyes but if he’s this injury prone in the fucking preseason then I’m sure he’ll be as injury prone as Sammy was in the season and produce 0 value. Noice.

boldin

It seems they might have noticed that they didn’t receive as much from this trade as needed and decided to pick-up and old once-was in Anquan Boldin, whose yards have been declining to the point where he is aiming for a >500 yard season this year. I mean it’s basically like trying to get out of a hole by grabbing a limpy root. Looks reliable at first, maybe enough to support your weight so you jump up and grab. Now in the back of your head somewhere you knew this thing could break but you didn’t wanna believe it. So there’s no fuckin you can be surprised when it fucking snaps and you come falling down. The guy retires after less than 2 weeks for a more humanitarian way of living. I gotta think how shitty it must have been in Buffalo for him to up and leave after less than TWO WEEKS and walk away from a $4 million dollar paycheck potentially. Like they say where there’s smoke there’s fire, maybe this is some foreshadowing for bad events in Buffalo. Boldin saw the smoke and wasn’t waiting around for the fuckin fire. There are random rumors spreading of McCoy getting traded as well so who knows what the hell is happening over in the 716 but I hope for the tailgate sake that they assemble some sort of competitive team to make this season a little respectable. Any other team’s fanbase would have died out long ago but the Bills Mafia is a loyal crazy, hardworking, group of individuals but like any fanbase… they need results. -( . )

PS. LIVE Tailgate analysis will be coming to at @SFFTit on twitter for the season opening Bills tailgate at New Era field on Sun, September 10th. Be ready for a rowdy one.

Whoever decided to insert a Chick-fil-A in the Falcons’ stadium deserves a raise

chick

CBSSports– The Atlanta Falcons‘ new billion-dollar stadium features a Chick-fil-A, but if you’re planning to attend a Falcons home game during the upcoming season, its highly unlikely you’ll be able to eat there. That’s because the Chick-fil-A won’t even be open.

That’s right. The Chick-fil-A inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium won’t be made available to Falcons fans because none of its locations are allowed to be open on Sundays.

That’s according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell:

The franchise famous for its chicken sandwich is closed on Sundays, and only one of the team’s eight home games isn’t on a Sunday — a Thursday night matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Dec. 7.

A source said the digital signage in the Chick-fil-A stand will be flipped when the stand is closed and it will be used by stadium concessionaire Levy to sell other nonbranded food and beverage items.

Let’s start by stating 2 facts. 1) NFL games, of which the Atlanta Falcons are a part of, are played on Sundays are the most part. 2) Chick-fil-A is a very religious food chain and is closed on the Sabbath, otherwise known as Sunday. So from these statements, it becomes quite clear to even the most pea-brained of individuals that this business is flawed from jump street. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall of the boardroom in which this partnership was formed. I can imagine it would consist of the Falcons management just feeling most gleeful about their sparkly new stadium and seeing as Chick-fil-A (CFA) is one of the most popular food-chains in the South (if not the world if they were to expand) they thought this plan would go off without a hitch. Im sure all the rich fucks in the suits never had a bite of CFA in their life and were completely unaware that they weren’t even open on the day that they hold tens of thousands of people in their stadium. Meanwhile the CFA reps are sitting there, biting their tongues, waiting to sign the contract, before they burst out in cheers realizing they just stole a contract from this stadium. They have ONE home game that is not on a Sunday. They literally signed up to be open a stand at one game…Chick-fil_A: 1 Mercedes-Benz Stadium: 0. This stadium is well over the top for a team that made it to the Super Bowl for the first time in a while and got absolutely cucked by Belichick and his merry band of phenoms. They are on a high right now and over the next few years, with a lack of production I’m sure will ensue, they will be scrambling like the Falcons we’ve known for so long. -( . )

Unlimited Movie Theater Pass Sounds About As Good As An Unlimited Zipline Pass

Image result for south park zipline

Source– What is the sweet spot for getting people to join a movie theater ticket subscription service? For six years, MoviePass has struggled to answer that question and now, under former Netflix exec Mitch Lowe, it’s introducing a radical plan: Selling customers data and charging $10 a month for all the silver screen action you can fit into your life.

Today, Lowe announced that MoviePass will allow subscribers to see one showing a day of a film at any theater that accepts debit card payment for just $9.95 a month. The only restrictions that have been announced so far are that 3D and Imax films are off limits. I’d tell you if any terms of service have changed on the MoviePass website but it’s apparently getting crushed with traffic at the moment and won’t load.

MoviePass has been through several pricing and accessibility models over the years. It’s typically offered a list of theater partners, restrictions on new releases, limited advance purchasing, and prices ranging from $30 to $50 per month. It pays theaters full price for tickets and has sought to monetize by betting that people wouldn’t use the subscription enough each month to warrant the price. In 2016, Lowe was brought in as CEO based on his history as a co-founder of Netflix and his stewardship of Redbox kiosk rentals.

First off, I consider myself a pretty big movie guy and I like to try to watch a new movie at night before I go to bed. It’s one of the most incredible feelings to find a movie you either have been wanting to watch or a random movie you’ve never heard of and just fucking marinate for a solid hour and a half/ two hours. I used to be a reader, kinda, but the whole point of reading is being able to picture the story in your head as you follow the book. MOVIES DO THAT FOR YOU. Why waste brain power trying to picture what the characters look like when you can literally just watch them and see what they are supposed to look like. And finding a movie that keeps you guessing or just keeps you enthralled for the entire time is an amazing experience.

Anyways… back to the subject at hand, this MoviePass company just got a new CEO in the form of former Netflix executive Mitch Lowe. Ingeniously he came up with this new, revolutionary idea to charge $10 a month for a service. I dont know where his inspiratoin came from but this thing just might pan out for him! ON THE OTHER HAND, the movie theater business is a dying business. Charging $10 a month for an unlimited movie pass (minus 3D and IMAX movies…kinda bullshit) is an interesting move. I assume that with the rise of streaming services the theater business is on a slight decline and this is a good effort to gain some traction. Pretty sure a movie ticket was like 12 bucks last time I went, which I seriously cannot remember when that was, but they are telling me I can get a whole month of free movies for just $10?! Less than the price of a single ticket?! Only one problem… I can’t remember the last time I went to the movie. Either I just don’t have the time to go or I don’t even think about going but the fact remains I don’t go. Maybe I’m a single case but i really don’t think so. Ill wait a couple weeks for a movie to come out or ill find it on Kodi (if you dont know Kodi your missing out).  So kudos to this guy for leaving (or getting fired from, not sure what happened) from Netflix and moving to the movie theater market. A market that is on its last leg and is desperate, desperate enough to try the pricing model that their future competitor is using. Soon Netlfix and Hulu will be able to stream brand new movies and put an end to the movie theater industry as a whole so make your moves and attempt to make some money while you can cause the clock is ticking on your business. -( . )

The Long Con: The Story of Jon Gruden

gruden1

Reports are circulating that Jon Gruden is looking/considering getting back into the coaching game. According to ProFootballTalk he is quoted as saying “I’ve met with several people — I won’t deny that, just about every year I talk about coming back to coach. I’m not in here every day at 4:30 or 4:00 in the morning watching pinball, you know? I’m preparing myself to come back. I am. Every day. I’m preparing to come back.”This doesnt really give clarity to what his future plans are or if he has been trying to get back in the league for years perhaps but hasnt able to attract the attention of any coaching staffs?. If i am a football owner or gm and I see these reports coming out I am immediately contacting J. Grud. All of this press/media shit he has done the last couple of years has literally just been building him up for a coaching comeback. His”Gruden Grinders” let everyone know that he has that eye for a player that will work hard and grind his way to a starting spot. Recruiting coordinator. Check. He does his QB camps where he literally spends hours going over game film of on-the-come-up qb’s and then has the opportunity to talk and critique these young up-and-coming quarterbacks. Basically, build a rapport with these quarterbacks and telling them how to be successful. QB coach/ QB recruiter. Check. I mean this man has already been a head coach for 2 teams and brought back a USper Bowl Championship so i think we can safely assume he has somewhat of an idea on how to run a successful team but these post-coaching activities still can serve as a great tool to assist an already intimdiating coach. Im just here giving a stay woke alert (h/t Caleb Pressley of Young & Happy of Barstool Sports) that everyone should look to Jon Gruden being the next hot commodity in the NFL. AND THEN THERES COLLEGE. This man can give Saban And Urban Meyer a run for their money with 2 years of control of his own team. Throw him down there in FAU and bump Lane to his assistant. Maybe its bound to end like his tenure at Bama but maybe, just maybe, they unite to form the ultimate coaching duo and go on to lead FAU to multiple national championships and being the recruiting powerhouse they could be. Maybe a trip back to the rising Oakland Raiders? I can only hope. Who knows?I sure as hell dont but im just ready for the future. -( . )

Mayweather vs. McGregor: Analyzing their posture in press conference #1

both.jpg

The Mayweather, Mcgregor fight is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights in combat sports history as well as one of the largest commercial events of all time. Since the inception of the idea of this fight, everyone has pretty much agreed that McGregor will put up a hell of a fight but ultimately fall to the boxing veteran Floyd Mayweather. As for myself, possibly a symptom of my longtime McGregor fandom, I have alway had faith in Conor with his crazy work ethic and determination but seeing this most recent face-to-face… I could not feel more confident in my entire life that Conor will knock him on his ass. Floyd has not fought someone that will be as aggressive as McGregor will and with the MMA background of getting hit, Mayweather has never fought someone that can take a punch or is as willing to take a punch as Conor McGregor is. Watching the great Money Mayweather cowardly shy away from his shit talking ways cause hes met his match in Conor is a fantastic thing to see. I cant stand the way Mayweather fights so defensively and how he can even be in the conversation for best boxer ever when he picks every fuckin fight he wants to do. He never had to go toe-to-toe with legends like Ali or Frazier did, he just fuckin skates through maintaining his perfect record. Now an attacking fighter is gonna come in hungry and show him the floor. Lets take a look at the body positioning of these two fighters and the find of their first stop on their world tour:

may

Floyd “Money” Mayweather

This man steps up to the podium, takes a sip of water and starts stretching before starting to rattle off his catchphrases if you wanna call them that. “HARD WORK” he yells expecting to get a large response from the crowd… not so much. He starts saying he would take Conor anywhere like a ring or an octagon which is totally false cause he refused to fight Conor in an Octagon and then he continues to pace around the stage in between his almost nonsensical statements like a nervous piece of shit. Shown above you can see his very very poor posture, slouched like a depressed divorced dad and face tense while trying to be cool almost like the man is trying to dump his pants. I have to think he is going for a tough guy n smile stone face look but after being rattled up by Conor it just came off as needing to poop yourself bud. Weak, spineless, intimidated and already defeated and my final words on Floyd Mayweather.

mc

Conor McGregor

Holy shit. If these pictures arent the definition of a night and day difference than I don’t know what is. While Mayweather looks almost already defeated, Conor here looks like he is on top of the highest cloud overlooking earth like a god over his creation. The most joyful, smug, arrogant, determined grin and emotion shown all over his face and posture is unmistakable. This is a man who is ready to win. This is a man whose confidence is so far beyond that of his opponents and cant help but to embrace and let it shine through himself. He has been training his ass off and as a man who has seen many McGregor pressers, he had more pure glee in this one than many i have seen in the past. He is confident and for good reason as he knows he can win. He can sit there and watch Mayweather try to convince people that heis gonna knock Conor out but Conor is quick to remind people that he hasnt kncked anyone out in 20 fuckin years. Dont sleep on Conor McGregor cause I think this man is about to about to change the sport of boxing and combat sports as a whole for the good. -( . )

Wasting away again in Miamiheatville: The Gordon Hayward Story

hayward

Bleacher Report– The Miami Heat have reportedly emerged as the favorites to sign free-agent small forward Gordon Hayward, who spent the first seven years of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz.

On Saturday, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer provided the update on Hayward’s status. Based on O’Connor’s conversations with three sources, the reasons the Heat are in the driver’s seat for one of the top free agents include a “better lifestyle” and a “feature scoring role” for Hayward, as well as the opportunity to work with head coach Erik Spoelstra.

With the heat of the NBA free agency growing by the day, it seems ironic that the Miami Heat havent been in the typical conversation. Until now. Why havent they been in conversations? Well because they are irrelevant right now. They finished 41-41 last year and have no superstars to build a team around like every other competitive team seems to be doing right now. Hassan Whiteside and Dion Waiters are about the only 2 I know there that could possibly even help any other team. And is Chris Bosh still there? Has anyone even heard from Bosh in the last few years? oh well, maybe he went back to his home planet. On the other side of the talent spectrum we have Gordon Hayward who is very valuable and could help the Celtics or the Rockets close the gap. The gap being, of course, the front runners of the East & West the Warriors and the Cavs. If Hayward were to go to the Heat it might make them a little bit better but it wont do enough for them to be able to compete with the Cavs or the Celtics. It’s basically a waste of his talents if he goes to South Beach and with Paul George off the board the Celtics will have missed out on 2 big potential pickups that could allow them to take the next step past the Cavs, or at least get closer. This league is evolving into teams built with superstars that can feed off each other and Miami is not a budding place for that. As a fan of high scoring and competitive basketball, I really really hope he goes to the Celtics and if he can’t see why that would be the most ideal move then have fun putting up 25 points a game on a mediocre team that goes .500. -( . )

Jay-Z drops his last album and it’s a blessing in a world of mumble rap

hov

From the moment Jay-Z released his cryptic 4:44 ad in Times Square I’ve been intrigued. And when we knew it was an album my interest was heightened well above normal levels. I was oh so curious to see how this would turn out knowing how Jay-Z has not really been at the tippy top of his game as of late. And that is not throwing shade at all, this man is popping out his 13th album and he is still dropping lines and teaching lessons that people will dissect for years. And with saying that I love how Hov did everything on this album. In all honesty I dont know if this will be his last studio album but with my college educated brain I can only assume that this might be it. He’s had such a long, prosperous career and obviously doesn’t even need to make music anymore first off. He’s not a businessman, he’s a business man. And second off, the way this album sounds makes it seem like it his last hoorah. He addresses a bunch of stuff on 4:44 and really just puts everything he has on the table so i really dont know what else he could rap about. He hits on personal, cultural and political issues like talking about how his mother was forced to hide in the closet as a lesbian for some many years for the fear of what might happen. He hits on all the media and rumors about his marriage and potentially mistresses and the elevator scuffle with Beyonce’s sister. He throws shots at himself, he throws shot at Kanye, He throws shots at Eric Benet. He hits racial issues and even manages to bring OJ’s name back into the light. He ends it all with a song called “Legacy” and it tells of the story of leaving your legacy and acts as an ode to his children I believe and his empire that he has built for them.

The beats behind Jay’s flow are out of this world, mixing samples in with classic drum flows, No ID absolutely murdered this album. And to do it all alone is just phenomenal and really proves to anyone that can’t already see how talented No ID is and how he will go down as one of the best producers in the rap game history books. I think Jay-Z was trying to make a statement with this album and he did just that. In this world we live in of Migos and mumble rapping, it is honestly just so refreshing to hear a classic Hov come on a beat and just be spitting clean crisp bars. He changes up his flow a few times on this album which I really liked and on “Bam” he hits on with a killer drop and roll into his verse. I knew this was coming so I was sure to sign up for the Tidal free trial earlier in the day before 4:44 came out and I could not be happier that I got in and was able to listen. It blows my mind and I keep forgetting that there is a majority of people out there who have never heard this album. And a lot of them might not depending on how it will be released or if it will be on tidal alone forever. who knows. All i know is if that the case I am gonna end of buying a Tidal subscription cause this shit is an album all be bumping all summer17 and beyond. #444 -( . )
